Portfolio Update: Bespoke Uniform for Hélène Darroze at the Connaught
rom the personally tailored menus to the meticulously designed dining room, Hélène Darroze at The Connaught epitomizes elegant craftsmanship. At this three Michelin-star restaurant, every dish is rooted in seasonal produce sourced from carefully selected farmers, makers, and growers. Each menu is personalized to reflect the guests' individual tastes, with chefs transforming the chosen ingredients into unique culinary masterpieces.
Pierre Yovanovitch’s cocooning interior sets the perfect tone for this intimate dining experience. Blush shades, curved lines, and deep velvet and leather seating embody the restaurant’s warm, approachable ethos. A blue blown-glass chandelier and exposed wooden tabletops add a bold, contemporary edge. Almost every element is custom-made, once again placing craftsmanship in the spotlight.
Hélène Darroze commissioned Studio 104 to create a new uniform collection that masterfully brings this focus on art and craftsmanship to the uniforms. Capturing the essence of Hélène’s creations, Studio 104's designs reflect the chef's contemporary and playful approach. Recognizing that each object and dish in the restaurant is a piece of art, the cut and finish of each garment are both impactful and elegant.
The interiors crafted by Pierre Yovanovitch offer a captivating fusion of textures, seamlessly blending rigid and gentle surfaces with graceful curves and welcoming muted hues. Inspired by this aesthetic, Studio 104 curated a colour palette that harmonizes effortlessly with the surroundings. The geometric motifs on the walls and furnishings influenced bespoke accessories, while the craftsmanship evident in the art, furniture, and ceramics inspired an artisanal French tailoring approach.
Drawing inspiration from renowned French tailoring houses like Camp de Lucas, known for their teardrop-shaped internal pockets, Studio 104 designed distinct curved patch pockets for the uniforms. In contrast, the women's wear is playful, feminine, and soft, complementing the blush-toned interiors with a gentle, warm feel. This thoughtful design ensures that the uniforms not only reflect the restaurant's values and traditions but also enhance the overall dining experience.
