The Country Retreat Look: Bespoke Projects informing The 104 Collection
he 104 Collection continues to grow rapidly in popularity with the company receiving a continuous stream of new enquiries across a spectrum of exciting brands and territories, propelling Studio 104 into a thrilling second half of the year.
The collection can be produced in 3 months (twice the usual pace of our bespoke projects) and to a smarter cost. A comprehensive range that divides into 47 formal and casual designs applicable for most luxury hospitality settings, catering for a plethora of styles and locations.
In this latest blog we focus on the ‘Country Retreat' look conceived for the 104 Collection Look Book. The team came up with 6 different looks to present and inspire clients, who are looking to consider the range. Each given their own name and visual reference, these are: Opulence, Resort, Country Retreat, Parlour, Botanic & Heritage.
The ‘Country Retreat’ look draws on Studio 104’s experience with the world’s most esteemed country escapes. Desirable locations where the who's who of society have relaxed and enjoyed the countryside’s delights in the height of luxury. Each colour and fabric is chosen for the look is intended to complement these fabulous places seamlessly.
Over the years Studio 104 has had the privilege to work with locations that exemplify ‘Country Retreat' in style, from the recently launched Fife Arms to the age-old playgrounds of the wealthy, like Gleneagles.
Here are select examples of our bespoke projects that have informed the ‘Country Retreat' concept:
Gleneagles
When it first opened its doors in 1924, this magnificent countryside estate in the heart of Scotland was described as the “Riviera in the Highlands”. Today, as a member of ‘The Leading Hotels of the World’, its new multimillion makeover captures everything that makes Gleneagles so special but with an added sense of style.
Our task at Gleneagles was to translate this new identity into its luxury uniform designs to continue its distinctive story. We were initially inspired by the highland landscape and its outdoor pursuits. We began with revisiting the golden age of travelling aboard the Flying Scotsman, in style and comfort, to the palace of the Glens. Read more...
The Fife Arms
Described by the Financial Times as ‘’Scotland’s hottest hotel’ the Fife Arms, located in the village of Braemar in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, is a Victorian coaching inn that has been imaginatively restored by Swiss art collectors Iwan and Manuela Wirth.
Studio 104 were given the very exciting opportunity to create a conceptual uniform that was elegant, quirky and full of surprise. Translating the worlds of contemporary art & craft into a highly creative dialogue with the highlands local history, Scots Pine, Salmon, the River Dee and Grouse feathers. Harking back to the inn’s Victorian heyday became our starting point, inspiring the distinctive Victorian aprons. Read more...
Hotel de Vin
Hotel Du Vin is a luxury boutique hotel chain with sixteen locations across some of the UK’s most famous university and cathedral cities. Famed for its passion for exceptional food and wine the name “Hotel du Vin” was a reference to the owner, previously a Master Somelier, and his unrivalled wine expertise.
The hotel’s ethos can be described as modern country townhouse meets British eccentricity with a French Bistro nod. Our task was to translate the essence of the hotels heritage into a modern yet classic uniform design solution, the staff would feel proud to wear. Read more...
